STARTING YOUR FLOORING JOURNEY
Choosing a flooring option can feel overwhelming with so many styles and colors available. However, deep down you know what your vibe is. It just may take an expert in the field to help you land on the exact right choice for you. When you work with an interior designer or flooring expert, they start by pulling a few options based on general ideas of what you like. From there, they help you narrow your choices and guide you toward the perfect selection.
“Whether your preference is a dark, moody vibe, something lighter and airier, or neutral and timeless, it helps guide the flooring choice that goes through the whole home,” says Mia Farrell, Design & Sales Consultant with ACo. “[Asking about your preference for] Floor A, B, or C [tells us] how you want your home to feel.”
EXPRESS YOURSELF
Design preferences can guide flooring choices throughout a home. For example, a client who likes an airy vibe would gravitate toward flooring that’s different than one who prefers a dramatic statement.
“Flooring can be an expression of a homeowner’s personal style,” says Farrell. “For example, dark, wide plank floors might reflect a bold personality and moody design aesthetic, while pairing dark floors with light cabinetry might speak to someone who favors balance and contrast.”
FIND YOUR INSPIRATION
Whether you’re building a new home or diving into a remodel or renovation project, it’s helpful to bring inspiration photos to your flooring specialist so they can see what you’re drawn to. Although people are always welcome to wander through the ACo showroom to gather ideas, it’s wise to make an appointment with a designer who can help guide you to the right selection for you. That way you have that connection point with an expert with whom you can share your thoughts, questions, and ideas.
“If we know where your mind and budget are, we can narrow down the millions of selections that are there and hone in on something right off the bat,” says Farrell.
CONSULT A DESIGN EXPERT
ACo employs a team of seasoned designers who help clients make flooring selections that spotlight their unique style. If a homeowner likes flooring that reflects a more traditional style, yet they still like to punch things up here or there with a unique flooring choice, Farrell recommends they select a bold choice for smaller spaces like the powder bath, laundry room, or mudroom.
“These rooms give them the opportunity to do something outside the box,” says Farrell, who recently worked on a home where the client chose to install a white and taupe checkered pattern tile in their mudroom and a mosaic tile in their powder room.
“Both rooms turned out so nice,” says Farrell. “When you open the door to the powder room, it’s a little fun surprise!”
