When Isaiah Baker thinks about building, he thinks of family. In the 1950’s, his grandfather started Al Baker and Sons Construction. Baker grew up going to job sites with his dad, and likes to continue that tradition with his son, Henry. Although he didn’t necessarily plan to follow in his family’s footsteps, as he got older, something clicked.
“It just made sense,” says Baker. “So much was ingrained in me without even knowing it.”
In 2012, he opened his own company, Baker Contracting, LLC, a full-service builder that specializes in custom residential construction and commercial remodeling. His work echoes that of his family (granddad, dad, and uncle), but where they primarily built spec homes, Isaiah is a custom home builder with a focus on high-end, innovative designs.
“Every home we build is completely designed and tailored for our client’s wants, needs, and budget,” says Baker, who also carries on the tradition of working with family alongside his brother, Matt.
As a third-generation builder, Baker partners with family and treats his employees as an extension of that relationship. Baker Contracting is a small company with just six in-house staff, so they’re a close-knit group to say the least.
