The National Kitchen & Bath Association finds that fall is when homeowners often embark on kitchen projects, so the Indiana Design Center offers four helpful tips to make the process run smoothly.

LIFESTYLE

From cooking to entertaining, kitchen designers take careful consideration for how each client will utilize a kitchen. “If your family likes to cook together, you’ll need plenty of countertop space or ‘prep zones,’” says Andrea Kleymeyer, Marketing Director with the Indiana Design Center.

FORM & FUNCTION

In addition to looking beautiful, your countertops should perform in the way that best meets your needs. All materials are not created equal, and an expert in the Santarossa showroom can help to match you with the surface that works best for you, whether it be quartz, marble, soapstone, or granite.

SETTING THE TONE

Decorative lighting is often referred to as the jewelry of the home so it is the perfect design element to set the tone for your space. The Ferguson showroom reports that modern lighting is in high demand as the desire for clean lines continues, and mixed metal tones like black and gold are also popular.

PERSONAL TOUCH

From new interpretations of classic subway tile to intricate laser-cut designs, tile options are endless and are the perfect way to infuse personality into your kitchen design. “There’s some really unique and beautiful decorative tile, but it doesn’t need to fill an entire wall,” says Kleymeyer. “You can choose some unique accent points that show personality but aren’t overpowering.”

The Indiana Design Center is located at 200 S. Rangeline Road in Carmel. For more information, call 317-569-5975 or visit www.indianadesigncenter.com.
